Simple Syrup

Ingredients
100g caster sugar
100 ml water
1 tsp Just Flavour
Simple Syrup is an easy way to get extra moisture and flavour into sponge cake, and even add some sweetness and flavour to hot or cold drinks and cocktails!
For cakes, simply or brush a layer over the surface of your sponge layers. For drinks, just add a little to taste then stir or shake!
We are flavouring our syrup with Just Flavour. These flavours are completely natural, plant basted, and allergen and alcohol free!

Ingredients
For Cakes:
- 100g caster sugar
- 100 ml water
- 1 tsp Just Flavour
For Coffee/Cocktails:
- 200g cater sugar
- 75ml water
- 1 1/2 tsp Just Flavour
The method for both recipes is identical, but the syrup for coffee/cocktails will be thicker than the one for cakes. The cake syrup will last for up to a month, the thicker coffee/cocktail syrup will last unto 6 months. Both syrups need to be kept refrigerated in an air tight container.
Method
- Add the sugar and water to a pan and place over a medium heat.
- Stir regularly until all of the sugar has dissolved, then turn up the heat.
- Bring the mixture to the boil for 1 minute before turning off the heat.
- Once the heat is off, add the Just Flavour and stir.
- Allow the syrup to cool before pouring into a bottle to store.
- Your simple syrup in now ready to use!
